About
Jane Turner She/Her/Hers
BA-Psych, GradDipPsych, MAPS
Jane is a registered psychologist who first entered the mental health field over a decade ago. She has worked in different clinical settings, including a private psychiatric hospital, a residential rehabilitation centre and an NGO outpatient counselling centre. She has also had the privilege of presenting her research and intervention at conferences, contributing to the family violence and alcohol and other drugs (AOD) sectors. Her professional background reflects a deep-seated commitment to psychology, diverse practical experience, and a drive to create a positive change within the field and the communities she serves.
Jane’s approach to therapy is characterised by warmth and curiosity, as she works to build meaningful connections with her clients. She focuses on fostering a strong therapeutic alliance based on trust and empathy, as she believes that genuine connection is the foundation for transformative change in therapy. She aims to walk alongside her clients without judgment while developing an understanding of what is happening for them, before collaborating to explore the way forward together.
She combines several modalities and perspectives in her practice including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), narrative therapy, a feminist-informed perspective and social justice principles. Jane is especially skilled in treating substance dependence, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, personality disorders and relationship issues.
Jane prioritises creating a safe and affirming space for all clients, particularly neurodivergent individuals and those within the LGBTQI community. She is eligible to provide services under Medicare, is an approved Victim’s Services Counsellor and is able to see clients on an NDIS plan.
